Strike a Pose

The new school year has begun and Martyn, in his capacity as journalist at the local, had to take pictures of children just beginning.

At one school there were forty 4 year olds. In his words, “All the children piled out onto to field. It was wet. While mats were sorted the children were left with one teacher (who’s probably off sick by now) as they all broke loose and were running mayhem. A different clever teacher got them under control with the old ‘hands on your head, hands on your ears’ routine. She was brilliant even I did it.

But then argh, little children are like sheep with an agenda. They sort of follow each other but they’ve all got other things to think about or look at. It’s impossible to get them to all look the same way at the same time. Just when you think you’ve almost managed one needs the loo and then several more remember they do too.

We began once more and yet again though there was always something so much more interesting than the camera slightly behind and to the side behind them”.

Last week while Paul and his girlfriend Maria were away in Cornwall they visited the zoo and saw the penguins.

It’s impossible to get them all looking the same way at the same time ...
